Mountain View Farm

Location: Easthampton, MA
Farmers: Ben Perrault and Liz Adler
Supplies Real Pickles with fresh chile peppers, cucumbers, green cabbage, onions, red cabbage

We are thrilled to be partnering with Mountain View Farm, a certified organic farm based in Easthampton, MA. The farm is run by Ben and Liz, along with their two children, Ollie and Nate, and the support of their three loyal dogs. Ben and Liz started their farm in 2006 on 17 acres and in the years since have expanded their operation to add nearly 100 acres of leased land in Easthampton, Northampton and Hadley.

Mountain View Farm is known throughout the Valley for their amazing Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and U-Pick operations that includes flowers, herbs, green beans, peas, cherry tomatoes, and much more. They have grown their CSA to over 2,000 customers, winning the Valley Advocate’s Best Local CSA award 15 years in a row!

The farm takes great pride in their long-term community partnerships, including their relationship with The Food Bank of Western Mass. Over the last 15 years, through a unique partnership, Mountain View has delivered over two million pounds of fresh organic fruits and veggies to the Food Bank to be distributed to those facing hunger throughout the region.

At Real Pickles, we know Mountain View Farm best for their beautiful organic pickling cucumbers. We are so grateful to Ben and Liz and their crew for all of the care and hard work they put into growing this often-challenging crop. In the summer of 2024, Mountain View Farm delivered us more than half of the cukes, an incredible 23,595 pounds, that went into our pickles for you to enjoy!

The partnership with Real Pickles feels like “a really good fit” to Liz and Ben, and we couldn’t agree more!

🥒 It’s pickle season! Crisp, tangy and full of fl 🥒 It’s pickle season!

Crisp, tangy and full of flavor, lacto-fermented pickles are one of the best parts of summer.

And they’re more than just delicious. Naturally fermented foods help support gut health and because gut health is closely connected to immune function and mood, supporting your gut can benefit your whole body.

✨ Bonus: Fermented cucumber pickles naturally contain GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), a compound involved in supporting a calm, balanced nervous system.

So go ahead, enjoy that pickle! Savor the season, nourish your gut and give your body a little extra love. 🥒

Last week, Real Pickles staff ventured out to East Last week, Real Pickles staff ventured out to Easthampton, Mass., for our annual field trip to visit Liz and Ben (and Clover the dog!) of Mountain View Farm.
Mountain View Farm is one of our amazing farm partners that supplies Real Pickles with organic cucumbers, green and red cabbage, leeks, onions, peppers and flowering dill. Last year, Mountain View delivered more than 58,000 pounds of organic produce to us, including over 20,000 pounds of pickling cucumbers!
The land we visited last week was just a small portion of the 100+ acres that Ben and Liz farm. This particular plot is used mostly for growing flowers and vegetables for their award-winning U-Pick CSA shares. While we didn’t get to see any baby cukes at this location, Liz showed us photos of future Organic Dill Pickles growing beautifully on the farm’s leased land in Hadley, Mass.
As we walked the Easthampton fields together, we learned about some of the ways Ben and Liz are preparing for the upcoming season, including plans to make cucumber harvesting even more plentiful and easier on the crew’s bodies.
Thank you, Liz and Ben, for hosting us and for being such incredible partners in our mission to build a strong regional food system!
