Kitchen Garden Farm was founded in 2006 on just 1 acre of rented land by Tim Wilcox and Caroline Pam. The farm has expanded greatly over the last 18 years and now consists of 65 acres of rich river bottom soil with fields on both sides of the Connecticut River, in Sunderland and Whately, MA.
In the spring of 2024, longtime employees of Kitchen Garden Farm, Lilly Israel and Max Traunstein, took over ownership of the farm and we couldn’t be happier for them, and us! We’re so fortunate to be able to ferment Kitchen Garden Farm’s top quality produce for our Real Pickles products.
Kitchen Garden Farm raises a wide diversity of vegetables, including uncommon cultivars carefully selected for optimal flavor. Max and Lilly sell their vegetables to many of the region’s best restaurants, as well as natural foods stores and co-ops in the valley and beyond.
Lilly and Max both studied agriculture at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and met while working together on the University’s student farm. They are both passionate about food in every sense: from growing, to cooking, to eating. These two take food seriously – from soil to plate – and the results are delicious! In addition to selling fresh vegetables, Kitchen Garden Farm also produces award winning hot sauce, salsa, and other products on their farm using their own peppers, tomatoes, and more.
